FRED KLOSE With heavy hearts and deepest sadness we announce the passing of Fred Klose. After a courageous struggle with cancer, Fred lost his battle, surrounded by his loving family, on June 30, 2011. Fred was born in Winnipeg on June 2, 1935. He worked for 38 years with Shell Oil Canada both in Winnipeg and Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta where he made many wonderful friends along the way, retiring in 1993. Fred was the nucleus of his family and is known for his sharp wit and amazing sense of humour. He proved that you're never too old to act a little goofy; and he did! Fred was predeceased by his parents, Anne and Frank Klose, his mother and father-in-law, Jim and Cathy Steele, his son Robert, his grandson Andrew Klose, his nephew Lyndon Miller, his brother-in-law Murray Higgins, and his sister-in-law Catherine Miller. He leaves to cherish his memory and miss him tremendously, Doreen, his loving wife and best friend of 36 years, his loving sister Anne Miller (Martin), and close friend, brother-in-law Ken Miller. Additionally, Fred leaves behind to mourn his passing, a loving family which includes his children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Throughout his illness, Fred was helped by many special people that he would want acknowledged at this time. In addition to his Klose family, a thank-you needs to be expressed to Cameron and Sandra Miller, Brian Miller, the staff at CancerCare; nurse Ola, and the other fantastic staff in the Palliative Care Program. In accordance with Fred's wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral Services will be held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Take your well earned rest Fred; you will be so greatly missed.
