ADA MERRILL NAPPER June 23, 1921 - July 1, 2011 On Friday, July 1, 2011 Merrill Napper (nee Lownsbrough) died peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory daughter Susan (Bob) Taylor and sons Ted (Delle) Napper, and Rob (Jill) Napper. Mom also leaves to grieve her grandchildren Jeff Taylor, Michael (Kristine), Lindsey and Chris Napper, Taurean, Colin and Shea Napper; great-granddaughter Drai (Michael and Kristine). Her sister Donna (Henri) Tremblay, sisters-in-law Lillian Lownsbrough and Doreen Lownsbrough plus numerous nieces and nephews mourn her death. Our mother was predeceased by her husband Allen (1994), parents Irene and Cecil Lownsbrough, brothers Nelson, Munroe and Russell. Her beloved grandson, Jamie, predeceased her in 1998. Mom was born on June 23, 1921 in Carnduff, Saskatchewan. Despite growing up in the Depression Era, Mom enjoyed her childhood and teen years. She developed many lifelong friendships through her thundering herd adventures. Our Mom participated in many sports at this time including swimming, tennis, track and baseball. At a young age Mom moved to Winnipeg where she learned her secretarial skills and became employed in a company where she subsequently met and married Allen Napper, her boss, in 1946. When we were born, Mom's love of family was clearly evident as she became involved in many activities connected with us. Her own love of sports was renewed when she joined competitive curling and bowling while we lived in Wildwood Park. She found that raising her family in Wildwood had the benefits of extended family life. Later in life, Mom, Dad, Ted and Rob formed Merrill Enterprises in Saskatoon. Mom and Dad worked with the company for almost 20 years before retiring back to Winnipeg and the lake. Before retiring, Mom and Dad enjoyed many memorable RV trips as well as their world travels. After Dad's death, Mom kept up lake life at Clearwater Bay, enjoying retirement to its fullest. In her 80s Mom pursued the game of golf, loving her days out on the course and the fellowship afterwards. A celebration of Mom's life will be held at Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Road at Lyon on Wednesday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Gordon Taylor officiating. The family wishes to thank the medical staff at the Victoria Hospital, particularly Dr. Munsamy, and nurses Craig and Chun. Thank you to management and staff at Riverwood Square for providing wonderful services and programs for residents of The Landing. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Merrill's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Suite 200, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6; the Winnipeg Chapter of The Compassionate Friends, 685 William Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0Z2; the Fort Garry United Church Memorial Fund, 800 Point Road, Winnipeg, MB R3T 3L8 or the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8. Rest in peace, Mom. We love you and miss you deeply. THOMSON IN THE PARK 204-925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
