Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCES DEL BIGIO (nee ZOLTENKO) It is with great sadness that the family of Frances Del Bigio announces her peaceful passing on the morning of July 3, 2011, while surrounded by her family, after a short stay in the Grace Hospital. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband Grant, to whom she was married to for over 55 years; her three daughters, Karen (Mike), Janice (Ray) and Elaine (Rod); her seven grandchildren, John (Teagan), Lindsay, Robert, Derek, Jenny, Rachel and Laura; and great-grandchild John. She also leaves to mourn her loving siblings, Lena, Zena, Lawrence (Elaine), Lily (Mitch); brother-in-law John, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Horpina; her father John; sister Irene; and brothers-in-law, Steve and Cyril. Frances was born June 6, 1934 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was raised on a farm in West Kildonan by her loving family. She met the love of her life, Grant, while working at Del's Electric. They married October 15, 1955 and raised their three daughters in East Kildonan. Grant and Frances enjoyed many years travelling with their children, dining out and spending time with family and friends. They were extremely active and involved in their children's lives. Frances was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and recently became a great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was raising her children and grandchildren. She was a very hands-on mother and grandmother. She spent many hours patiently and lovingly tending to, cooking for, encouraging, playing with, and teaching her children and grandchildren. She faced many health and mobility challenges due to having Multiple Sclerosis over the course of 40 years and later in life, Diabetes. In spite of this, she always had a very positive outlook on life, and a very open heart to all. Frances was a gentle soul that was the anchor of our family. Her endless patience, advice and fantastic sense of humour kept everyone in her presence in high spirits. Her inner strength and dignity was and will continue to be an inspiration to all. Mom, we will cherish our wonderful conversations and memories with you. You will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. We Love You!! The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., St. John Brebeuf Church, with viewing one half hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation may be made in Frances' memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or Diabetes Association of Winnipeg.
