Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE PAKOO June 24, 1947 - July 1, 2011 After her long, courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, July 1, 2011 surrounded by her large, loving family, mom left us to start on her final journey home. Mom is survived by her husband Roderick Pakoo, her eight children Diane (Clifford), Lori (Bruce), Sheri/Anne (Andrew), Glen (Adrienne), Rod, Timmy, Patty (Tim) and Peggy, her 19 beautiful grandchildren whom she loved greatly, her sisters Dolores (Perry), Phyllis (Clem), Roberta (Marvin), Jean and Shirley, her brothers Harold, Lloyd, Floyd and J.C., family friend David Fontaine and numerous nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly. Mom was predeceased by her father Richard (Dick) Simard, April 19, 1986, mother Isabel Simard, February 23, 1998, grandfather Colin Smith, grandmother Catherine Smith, March 23, 1983, brother-in-law Howard Pakoo, June 2, 2007, father-in-law Glen William Pakoo, 1977 and nephew Melvin Courchene, December 11, 1997. A wake service was held at Clifford and Diane's home at 28 Louis Riel Drive and cremation followed. Mom will continue to be at home one final night. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Notre Dame du Laus Roman Catholic Church, Powerview, MB. Interment will follow in the Notre Dame du Laus Cemetery. Mom's pallbearers will be her nephews Kyle Fontaine, Joey Fontaine, Jonathan Courchene, Clem Courchene, Rick Simard and Troy Fontaine. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews Corey, Sheldon, Daniel, Michael, Randal, Richard, family friend Matthew and mom's little visiting buddy Cash. We would like to thank Dr. Hashem, Dr. Essa, the Palliative Care Team, the nurses that care for mom, the hospital housekeeping staff, Bella Malo, Mr. Heithen and the wonderful caring Nurses Aides that attend to our mother. Thank you all so very much for making Mom's final stay at the hospital bearable and most importantly keeping mom comfortable. Also a special thank you to Mr. Ernest McPherson and Father Gray for coming to mom's bedside to offer prayers and communion. Special thanks to our brother and Uncle Harold for all his care and compassion. Also a special thank you to our son and brother Rod for the hours of care given to mom.
