Calvin was born and raised in Swan River Valley. After completing High School he worked in Thompson, Manitoba and then trained as a Heavy Equipment Operator in Winnipeg, on completing this he moved to Fort Saskatchewan working as an Operator and also returning to Manitoba to farm in the McVey District. In 1984, they returned to the McVey District to farm full time. In 1986 they were blessed with the birth of their son Christopher. Recently, Calvin had a new passion which was cooking and preparing many batches of jam for his family and friends. Calvin was a good listener and always had time to talk to people. Calvin was a man of his word and he especially enjoyed spending time with his friend Barry Holness. Calvin had a great love for animals big and small, and an especially soft spot in his heart for all of the young grandchildren in the family.
