Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANDREJ (ANDY) MODLA Andy Modla passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the age of 68. Andy was born in Kezmarok, Slovakia on July 4, 1942. Andy was predeceased by his son of 22 years, Andy, his mother Anna Modla, father Andrej Modla, and brother Jozef Modla. Andy is survived by his loving wife Zorka, of 44 years. Andy will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Michelle Oczerklewicz, son-in-law Russ, grandchildren Sara and Erin, nephew Jozef Modla and family of Kezmarok, Slovakia. Andy and Zorka married on September 16, 1966 in Spisska Bella, Slovakia. Andy and Zorka came to Canada on November 25, 1968 and started their new life together. Andy worked at C.N. for almost 28 years. When he did retire from C.N. he was able to fully enjoy what he loved doing: gardening, hunting, fishing and his homing pigeons. Andy also loved working in his shop maintaining vehicles, welding and listening to Nestor Pistor as he did it. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9 at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Garson, MB with Rev. Fr. Charles Fillion presiding. Viewing will take place at the church one hour prior to the service. There will be a Reception at Garson Community Hall with interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, Main Street, Winnipeg, MB. Pallbearers will be Andy Koprajda, Jerry Brasko, Lubo Jezik, Tony Brasko, Paul Zubec and Tono Wintner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Andy's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0K6.
