JOSEPH GORDON NEPINAK SOONGI KAPAMASHITT MIKISII ININI MUKOOS With family by his side on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at the Concordia Hospital, Gordon Nepinak of Winnipeg, beloved husband of Marjorie Nepinak passed away at the age of 68 years. Wake service began Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church, Sagkeeng First Nation, Manitoba, at 5:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Gordon did many things in his life, beginning with pulp cutter at the age of 6 years, and then to carpentry and fishing, later he became an AA Counsellor. He also worked with Manitoba Hydro and the San Antonio Mines. For the past 13 years he was a Spiritual Leader and Elder for the Stoney Mountain Institution. He served has on the Prairie's Regional Elder's Council and the National Elders Working Group. Gordon leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 38 years Marge, his children Kenneth (Wendy), Roberta, Shelley (Conray) and Gordon Jr., foster children Austin, Dylan, Percy, Isabella, Drake and Riviera, his grandchildren Farrah, Odessa, Shante, Shuneta, Jonas, Jacob, Chad, Sammy and Kenny, great-granddaughter Maria, his brother Francis, sisters Leona, Delia, Gertrude, Rose (Ken) and Barbara, in-laws Barbara, Elsie (Maurice) Laforte, Beatrice, Julia (John), Sarah, Helen, Henry (Frances), Marcel (Audrey), John and Mary-Anne Nepinak, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Jerome and Christina, brothers Eugene, Valentine (Agnes), John and Albert, his sisters Martha (Raymond) and Lorraine (Dick), father and mother-in-law J.B.D. and Esther Swampy, his brother-in-law and spiritual teacher Ronald Boyish Swampy and special nephew Philip Ronald Swampy and Joseph Houle who he helped raise. Gordon's family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion and also a special thank you to the Concordia Hospital Security.
