MARIE WOOD October 10, 1910 - June 29, 2011 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Marie Wood. Marie was born in Winnipeg and attended King Edward, Issac Newton and St. Johns schools, graduating from the Winnipeg Normal School. She was predeceased by her husband Tom in 1979, an infant son in 1949 and years previously by her father, mother, two sisters and a brother. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Vivian (Larry) Karp of Surrey, BC, her son Charles (Colleen) Wood of Balfour, BC, her brother Michael Stokol of Florida and nephews James (Francis) Zimmerman and Ricky Zimmerman of Timmins, ON, grandchildren Joy (Patrick) O'Loughlin and David (Michele) Karp of Vancouver, BC, Michael (Raynie) Wood and Patricia Wood of Calgary, AB, and six great-grandchildren Britany Wood, Lindsay and Conor O'Loughlin, Madison and Paige Wood, and Jack Karp. Marie enjoyed dressmaking and made numerous wedding gowns over the years. She also enjoyed embroidery and making patch quilts as gifts. Marie and Tom were avid bowlers and bridge players for many years. Due to a broken hip, she settled down to crossword puzzles, sewing and lots of crib games. The family wish to thank the staff of Home Care and Tuxedo Villa for their help and care. Mom also wished a special thanks to Margaret Friesen, Ken Peck and John Vosters for their unfailing devotion and friendship. A memorial service will be held at the Harrow United Church, 955 Mulvey Avenue on July 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
