ALBERT ELDON KEAST June 3, 1929 - June 30, 2011 Albert Eldon Keast, beloved husband and father passed away peacefully, surrounded by the people he loved, on June 30, 2011. He was born in Valhalla Centre, AB and lived his younger years there. He graduated from the School of Agriculture in Vermillion, AB and then moved to Woodside, MB. He taught school for one year and then decided to farm in the Woodside area where he met Doris Hillman. They married in 1952 and had four children. They farmed until 1962 when Eldon took a job with Federal Farm Credit and moved his family to Morden. In 1969 he transferred to Winnipeg and retired at age 57. Eldon was best known in his early years for his singing and guitar playing. He was a self taught musician, played in a band and enjoyed competing in talent shows. Everyone loved to hear him sing. Fan favourites were Nobody's Child' by Hank Snow, Your Cheating Heart' and Cold Cold Heart' by Hank Williams. When there was a party they made sure he was there. Dad was an avid sports fan. He was so disappointed when the Jets left Winnipeg and was certain they would return but did not think it would happen in his lifetime. How excited he was to see his team come home. He wore many hats through the years. Dad was a Musician, Teacher, Farmer, Bookkeeper, Racehorse Owner, Bomber Fan, Fishing Tackle Manufacturer and Stock Picker (and according to Mom, not very good at that one!). He loved having conversations with his grandkids about sports, the stock market or anything that interested them. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Doris; sons Dale and Barry (Anne), daughters Kathy (Terry) and Kelly (Arnie), nine grandchildren: Scott (Sue), Kristin (Jon), Branden (Andrea), Riley (Christy), Michael, Brittany, Sean, Kevin and Jordan, three great-grandchildren: Landon, Carissa and Hudson. He also leaves a sister Lorna (Vince) and brother Lloyd (Agnes). He was predeceased by his parents, Nellie and Len, and a brother Jim. Dad loved a good joke, a cold beer, real' country music, a fast thoroughbred, the excitement of the stock market, a tall fishing story and the Manitoba prairie. And most of all he loved our mom. Known as a man of few words he wasn't given to flowery speeches but we often heard him say in the last year, I'm so proud of my family . Dad, we are proud to have come from such an honourable man. God bless and keep you. Cremation has taken place and as per his request there will be no funeral. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. We would like to thank Dr. Hayward and staff for the great care they gave Eldon over the years and to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Heart or Kidney Foundation.
