HAROLD (MOLLY) PRAZNIK December 30, 1929 - July 8, 2011 After a short and sudden battle with cancer, it is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Harold (Molly) Praznik. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered and cherished. Harold leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Christine (nee Mitchell); sons Randy (Stephanie), Kirk (Joanne) and Greg (Karen); daughter Heather (Darcy); grandchildren Robert, Natasha (Jay), Tiffany, Kyle, Karri (Chris), Lisa, Tanya, Scott, Mathew, Andy, Amanda (Tyler), Brendan, Chelsea and Dayna; eight great-grandchildren Taylor, Ethan, Maddison, Justin, Megan, Connor, Katie and Wyatt; also by sister Elsie (late Larry Sutton); brothers Gerry (Vivian) and Ricky (Janet), nieces and nephews Dale, Glen, David, Heath, Jody, Tobin and Travis. Harold was predeceased by his parents Harry and Ann Praznik and in-laws Allistar and Evelyn Mitchell. No matter how big Harold's family grew he had room in his heart for all, so it's no surprise that as he crossed over he was surrounded by all who loved him. Harold's youth was in basically hockey where he traveled to Scotland to play with the Dundee Tigers. Harold spent 38 years of dedicated service with Air Canada and retired in 1988 and returned to Selkirk, Manitoba from Dorval, Quebec. In Harold's final hours four brave angels filled with love, kindness and respect, fulfilled his final wishes. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, in the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Gonor, Manitoba, at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Peter Chorney officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Society in Harold's memory. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Beth Praznik was my tour guide at Oak Hammock Marsh when I went on a field trip with my Special Needs Autism Program (SNAP), from Oakenwald Elementary School, (located in the provincial capital), during the school year of 1993-94. She was a great interpreter whom I asked a lot of questions when I met her. I still remember that she is an only child and that she has three sons, but the some of the extra information, (like her maiden name), rang a bell when I came across this obituary, after typing the surname under the search tab on passagesmb.com, just a few years ago. One great memory I have about Beth was her telling me not to fall into the water, while my school group was on the boardwalk, because she would not want to jump in the water to rescue me. Typing in Beth's last name around 1:00 a.m. yesterday, I did not realize that today was the anniversary of her husband's passing. Beth, may you remember all the great memories and   every fun moment that you and Harold had shared throughout your lives, yesterday, today, and forever. - Posted by: Remembers Details (Tourist) on: Jul 08, 2018
