Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNIE IRENE BUTLER (nee HIGGINS) Peacefully on July 9, 2011, Irene passed away at the age of 91 years surrounded by her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Gordon, daughters Dale (the late Jim Conyers), June (Brian Wilson), and Janis (Philip Thompson). She was the proud grandmother of Carole (Aaron), Colleen (Jamie), Lianne (David) of Winnipeg, Kyle (Susan) of Vancouver, and Karen (Michael) of Berlin, Germany. She had four precious great-grandchildren, Jasper, Waverley, Emily and Ruby. Irene was born and lived in Deerhorn, MB, until after completing her schooling when she moved to Winnipeg to work. Following her marriage in 1943, she worked for Dominion Bridge during Gordon's wartime service abroad. Irene became a full-time homemaker following his return in late 1944. Throughout her life, Irene had a wide circle of friends and participated in a number of activities - bowling, curling, golf and bridge. Irene was a skilled seamstress who lovingly made countless articles of clothing for her daughters. For many years, she was an active member of Chalmers United Church (McClure), joining Trinity United in later years. During the past seven years, Irene has been a resident of Riverview Health Centre. Special thanks to the staff of CD2 and AB1 for their years of kind and compassionate care of Irene. Following her wishes, cremation has taken place. A service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation, One Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4.
