ARLENE ANNE COOK July 28, 1936 July 11, 2011 After a courageous battle with cancer, Arlene Cook, beloved wife of Ken, passed away at the age of 74. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Karen (Len) Cann and son Kevin (Lynne) Cook and grandchildren Cherie Smith, Stephanie Miller (Christian Bernard), Tyson Cook, great granddaughter Karianna Smith, sister Dolores (Jack) Grant, and Phazor the cat. She was predeceased by her parents Clifford and Virginia Fennell. Arlene was a St. Vital girl, who one day took the train to Winnipeg Beach and met her loving and caring husband of 55 years. Ken's job took them to Russell, Neepawa, Winnipeg, Altona and then back to Winnipeg in 1972 making many lifelong friends along their journey. Arlene was a great cook, enjoyed her flowers and garden and had a special love for cats. She loved to travel and would start up a friendly conversation with everyone she met. Arlene's memory will be greatly cherished by those lives she has touched. The family would like to thank the extraordinary staff at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for their kindness and support through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to a charity of one's choice. In respect of Arlene's wishes, a private service will take place at a later date.
