ALPHONSE ST. HILAIRE 1923 - 2011 Sadly, the family announces that Alphonse, 87 years passed away peacefully on July 9, 2011 at the Victoria General Hospital, son of Marie Blanche (Guertin) and Jean Baptiste St. Hilaire. His final days were surrounded with family and friends. He will be fondly remembered by his brother Louie, sister Marie and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special friend, Lucille and her family. Alphonse is predeceased by his wife Ella, brothers Joseph and Gerald, sister Annette and adored pet, Toby. Alphonse was born in St. Malo, Manitoba on August 18, 1923. He served in the army in 1943 to 1946. He married Ella Hoehn in 1954 and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage before her passing in 2006. Al worked at CP Communications, CP Transport Express for 31 years. For many years Al and Ella enjoyed time spent with family, friends here in Winnipeg, in the United States and their annual trip out West to see family. Alphonse had a love for people and a great sense of humour, even when facing his final days. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, July 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson In the Park , 1291 McGillivray Blvd. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Victoria General Hospital for the excellent care Alphonse received. If friends so desire, donations in the memory of Alphonse may be made to the charity of your choice. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered!
