CELIA RUTH MILROY 1919 - 2011 Celia Ruth Milroy was born Celia Ruth Sheppard on October 6, 1919. She passed away at the age of 91 years on July 8, 2011. She never liked the name Celia and called herself Ruth at an early age. One of four siblings, Ruth was not the eldest, but she lived the longest having been predeceased by Gordon, Ethel, and earlier this year, by Barbara. Growing up in Binscarth, MB, Ruth never lost that small-town sensibility, treasuring her roots. As a young woman, Ruth moved to Winnipeg to further her education and for employment. It was in Ruth's nature to make lifelong and deep friendships that have endured to the present. Ruth's best friend was, of course, Andrew Milroy. They were wed, while he was in the air force, in 1943. Ruth and Andrew enjoyed a wonderful marriage until Andrew's passing in 1995. After Andrew passed, Ruth stayed in her North Kildonan home until 1997. She then moved to Fred Douglas Place in downtown Winnipeg. It was her home until 2010 when a stroke forced a lengthy stay in hospital. Last November she moved to The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg on Hugo Street. The family is deeply indebted and appreciative of the staff at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. One of Ruth's many passions was painting. She didn't start painting until fairly late in life and was a member of Forum-Art in St. Boniface for many years. Ruth leaves behind, two sons, Colin and Tom and their wives, Pamela and Maureen; four grandchildren, Cheryl, Theresa, Kyle and Ian, and five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jacob, Mathew and Melissa and Bennett. Ruth, of course, will be missed, but as long as we think of her once in awhile, she won't have gone very far. A private family service was held for Ruth on July 12, 2011 at the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE (204) 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
