LEO BRYAN LANDERS It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leo Bryan Landers, aged 73 years, on Monday, July 11, 2011 after his courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Ellen of Thompson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2011 at the St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, 114 Cree Road in Thompson, Manitoba with Fr. Eugene Whyte officiating. Leo was born on December 22, 1937 to Maurice and Anna Landers. He was the third of eight children. Leo was a miner most of his life and while in Chibougamau, Quebec, he met and married his beautiful wife Ellen Dooner. Leo and Ellen had four children: Debbie (Tom) Soutar, Wayne (Lori) Landers, Barb Landers, Leo Landers (Bonnie). They have seven grandchildren: Scott and Tommy Soutar, Ryan and Robyn Landers, Kailey and Becky Landers, and Melissa Landers, also one great-grandchild Ava Haywood (Robyn). After many years of moving around with the mining industry he moved to Thompson, Manitoba in 1969 to work for Patti Harrison. He changed his career to building contracting when he went to work for C.H.B. Ltd. Leo decided he liked this career move and started his own Company - Landers Construction Ltd. in 1974 and Leo's Home Decorating Ltd. in 1985. If Leo wasn't working (which was a rare occasion) he could be found on the Thompson Golf Course, at his cottage at Setting Lake or on one of his enjoyable trips to Hawaii. Leo was a very caring and generous person and was always there for everyone who needed him. His family was always his top priority. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He loved Thompson, worked for the growth of Thompson and felt our City was second to none. Leo was predeceased by his Mom (Annie), Dad (Maurice), two brothers, Ronald and Rene, and grandson Ryan Landers (Wayne). He is also survived by his sisters Maureen Landers, Leanne McCarthy (Brian), Chris Wilkinson (Tom), brothers Maurice Landers (Lisè), Mike Landers (Sharon), and numerous nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews, also many life long friends and neighbours. Leo has left us all with many great memories that we will hold onto in our hearts and help us get through the next days, months and years to come. We all love you Leo, your pain has gone and our love for you will be Eternal. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Boardman Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Phone 778-7982 Thompson.
