DORA LIEBERMAN With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Dora Lieberman on June 25, 2011 at the Health Sciences Centre. Dora will be deeply missed by her husband Aron, sons Jeff (Robyn) and Garry, and her grandchildren Amy, Josh, Brooke, Noah and Justin. She is also survived by her brother Julius Wise, sister-in-law Marion Wise and numerous nieces and nephews. Dora was predeceased by her parents David and Esther Goldie Wise, brother Israel Wise, sister and brother-in-law Anne and Joe Chmelnitsky and sister-in-law Karen Wise. Dora was born in Winnipeg on November 18, 1933. She grew up in the north end and attended Aberdeen School and St. John's Tech. When Dora was 16 years old her Mother passed away and Dora and her two brothers moved in with her sister Anne and brother-in-law Joe. Dora met the love of her life, Aron in 1957 and they were married on June 1, 1958. They had a wonderful 53 year marriage and together raised two sons. Her greatest moments were spent with her family and she cherished the special relationship she had with each of her grand-children. She loved being a Baba and this was definitely her most coveted role. Dora was an excellent cook and a great hostess. The Lieberman house was a hub of activity where family and friends always gathered. Dora and Aron owned a grocery store in East Kildonan for three years and then Dora worked as a sales person for 25 years at Sears Garden City. Dora touched so many lives with her kindness and generosity and was always willing to lend a hand. She volunteered delivering meals on wheels, and at the Israel Pavilion during Folklorama. Dora fought through and survived many illnesses. She was the matriarch of our family and will be deeply missed by her husband, children, grandchildren and extended family. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 28 at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue followed by interment at Shaarey Zedek cemetery. Pallbearers were Josh Lieberman, Jerry Chmelnitsky, Guy Almog, Martin Buchwald, Hartley Kaplan, and Howard Lavitt. Honourary pallbearers were Ron Gutnik and Ken Sellner. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, the Rady Jewish Community Centre or charity of choice.
