Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD LASZLO NEMES It is with extreme sadness that we announce Richard's passing on July 7, 2011 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his son Brian (Marlene), grandson Taylor, brother Brian (Peggi) and family and sister in-law Lesley. He was predeceased by his lovely wife Carol just two short years ago as well as his parents Gustav, Barbara and Elizabeth Nemes and in-laws Stuart and Marie Lumsden. Richard was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 13, 1942 and grew up and lived in River Heights until his marriage. His fondest childhood memories were the summers spent living and working at Victoria Beach. After marriage to Carol in 1960 they settled in Elmwood. During Brian's years in sports activities, Richard coached hockey and lacrosse at Kelvin CC. Carol and Richard's home in Elmwood and later in North Kildonan were always full of family and friends and they dedicated their lives to their son Brian, daughter in-law Marlene and only grandson Taylor. No one worked harder or more jobs trying to support his young wife and son before settling at the CNR. However, since 1977 he did something he truly enjoyed and that was own and operate Promotions Plus. He was a great ambassador for the promotional product industry and was actively involved at the National Association (PPPC) serving on the Board and Speakers Bureau and Manitoba Chapter as President/Executive. It was an important part of his life that only an illness could stop him from continuing and he will now watch over his son continue his work. Richard was a generous person who along with Carol enjoyed entertaining family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. His main interests outside of family were golfing, watching movies, shooting pool and reading. His greatest joy in life was his grandson. He attended numerous soccer, basketball and football games when he wasn't throwing a ball around or swimming with him. The family would like to thank the 2nd floor staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for the care and compassion they showed Richard. He will missed by numerous family and friends. We love you Richard. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
