WILLIAM BARRON Peacefully with his family by his side, William Barron left us to meet his beloved wife Doreen Tuesday, July 12, 2011. Dad leaves to forever cherish his memory children Jo-Anne and Grant Shay, Rick and Cheryl Barron and Lorene and Glen Peters. Pops will be forever adored by his grandchildren Kelsey (Real), Erin (Dillon), Kaitlyn, Krista (Dan), Jenna (Eric), Corynne, Nicole, Blair, and adorable great grandchild Maycen. Our father was predeceased by his wife Doreen and precious grandchild Kevin. Dad had a long and distinguished career with White Rose and Shell Canada, retiring in 1984. During that time he and his devoted wife Doreen and family lived in Regina, Toronto and Thunder Bay before returning to Winnipeg in 1973. During that time they worked together to build a strong family centered on respect, love and integrity. He was an accomplished curler that continued his passion for the curling at Deer Lodge Curling Club until just recently and leaves many good friends at Deer Lodge. Dad enjoyed his many friends and his afternoon coffee group and treasured the kinship he found in their company, particularly following the passing of Doreen in 2007. Dad was a devoted and loving husband and father that possessed a gentle and humble spirit that will leave a lasting legacy for those that were blessed to know him. The memory of his kind presence and unselfish heart will survive with a family that adored him and will provide us comfort in the days ahead. We will miss you terribly Dad, but know you are now reunited with Mom. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Arlene and Dr. St. Godard of Riverview Health Center and Kim Hunter and Ashley Buchan. The compassionate care you provided to Dad and our family was a tremendous comfort through a very difficult time. The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Marjorie McConomy for the special support and companionship she shared with our father. A funeral service will be held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave., on Monday July 18, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Riverview Health Center, One Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4 or CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
