JOHN SERNIUK 1916 - 2011 At the age of 95 years, John passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at the Royal Columbia Hospital, Vancouver, BC. Born April 5, 1916, in Gardenton, MB, the family moved to Winnipeg in 1926. He travelled to British Columbia in early 1950 to establish permanent residence. He was predeceased by his father Nikola (96) in 1959 and mother Agafia Serniuk (88) in 1960; sister Vera Maling in 1998; wife Evelyn Serniuk on January 30, 2001; and sister Lucille Carrie Nitchuk (97) on June 26, 2011. He is survived by daughter Darlene Serniuk and granddaughter Crystal Bjerke of Vancouver; two sisters, Lee Rouble (91), Los Angeles, CA and Doris Cifone (93), West Bend, WI; nieces and nephews James (Gail) McInnes, Los Angeles, CA, Lynne (James) Genese, West Bend, WI, Nick (Helen) Maling, Norman Ken Malayney, Pauline Chester and Rose Gevoga of Winnipeg. A private funeral service was held in Vancouver.
