ROMULO CRUZ After a lengthy illness, on July 14, 2011, Romulo Cruz passed away at Grace Hospital. Romulo was predeceased by his parents (Isabel and Rufino Cruz), his wife (Celia) and his eldest daughter (Maria Zobel Toledo). He will be dearly missed by his children Charito de Borja (Willie), Belinda Sto. Domingo (Gerry), Monina Cruz, Rommel Cruz (Nora) and his grandchildren Pewee, M.C., Biboy, Kay-Ann, Nikka, Keeno, Aisa, Ana, Geleen, Leanne, Leonne, and Leqzeus. Romulo will also be missed by his special friend Pura Pontanos. During his years in the Philippines, Romulo worked as a Master Cutter in the Garment Industry and also worked as a Chef in Saudi Arabia. Romulo moved to Winnipeg in 1999 and worked at Burger King and Prosperity Knitwear. Three years later he was diagnosed with stage 4 nasopharyngeal carcinoma and his strong faith and determination enabled him to battle his cancer, and won. Romulo was a devout catholic, strong to his faith and was dearly loved and respected by his entire family. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the ICU, 3North and 5North nurses, doctors, health care aides and other staff at Grace Hospital. The lamay/viewing will be held on Monday, July 18, 2011 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave from 6:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at St. Paul's the Apostle Church at 10:00 a.m. with interment and reception to follow at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.
