Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS (DOUG) ROLAND GIBSON Surrounded by his family, we sadly announce the passing of our dearly loved Father, Grandfather, Pa and friend, Doug, who passed away at Deer Lodge Centre on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the age of 77 years. Left to forever cherish Doug's memory will be his children, Bob (Charmaine), Rick, Kathy (David), and Doug; cherished grandchildren Lysa (Brock), Kyle, Nicolas, Mariah, Cody and Rebecca; great grandchildren Liam, Ryland and Zoe; sister, Marion Stuart; as well as his extended family and many friends. Doug was born in Hardisty, AB on April 04, 1934. In February of 1954 he began his flying career with the RCAF flying Harvards, Expediters, Dakotas, B-25's, and Otters. Then in May 1966, he started with Air Canada and flew DC8's, DC9's and retired on the B727 in October 1986. During this time Doug met his wife Trish and they were married on April 14, 1956 and enjoyed life together until Trish passed away in April of 2004. He enjoyed travelling with his family and friends and visited many places over the years as well as spending time at the family cottage at Brereton Lake. In compliance with Doug's wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held and he would like all his friends to enjoy one at happy hour for him. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and friends at Deer Lodge Centre and a very special thanks to the staff of Lodge 7 which he called home for many years. Their compassion, care and friendship to Doug and his family will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doug's memory to the Deer Lodge Foundation, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Suite 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
