Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERTINE COYNE (MIRKA) (nee DORNEZ) March 5, 1925 - July 10, 2011 It is with great sadness that the Mirka family announce the peaceful passing of their mother, Albertine, at the Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home in Ponteix, SK. She is predeceased by her parents Robert and Marie Louise Dornez, sister Agnes Desmarais, and husband Wayne (Bud) Coyne. She leaves behind her daughter Diane Mirka, Ponteix, SK; son Roger (Christine) Mirka, Swift Current, SK; sisters Irma Klumpner, Kelowna, BC; Therese Menu, Aldergrove, BC; Marguerite Dupuis, Winnipeg MB; first husband Steve Mirka, Swift Current SK; and numerous nieces and nephews. Albertine was born in St. Boniface, MB and lived most of her young adult years there working as a seamstress for TanJay Clothing and as a clerk at St. Boniface Sanitorium. She raised her family in Winnipeg, MB. After the family moved to Kelowna, BC in 1969, she was employed as a desk clerk at the Willow Inn Hotel. Albertine's next move was to Vancouver Island with time spent at Nanaimo and Maple Bay before settling in Victoria, BC where she lived happily for over 20 years, finishing up her working life as an alterationist for Eaton's. Albertine actively participated in 5-pin bowling from her early 20s to her late 70s and always enjoyed watching a good baseball game. She gardened for many years and especially loved roses. She enjoyed and excelled at crafts of all kinds, especially enjoying tatting and paper tole in her later years. One of Albertine's greatest gifts was never losing her child-like wonder at the world nor her ability to see beauty in the most ordinary of things. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her for her ready laugh and her beautiful smile. The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Foyer St. Joseph for their loving, compassionate care of our mother and for their generous family support. Thanks to Dr. DeKlerk and Dr. Barretto for their care and concern and also to the staff of Prairie Pioneer Lodge, Tender Loving Care (TLC) Services and Cypress Health Region Home Care. In accordance with Mom's wishes there will be no service. Donations in Albertine's memory can be made to Foyer St. Joseph, Resident Safe Garden fund, PO Box 450, Ponteix, SK, S0N 1Z0.
