DANIEL PIECZONKA Surrounded by family, Daniel Pieczonka passed away May 21, 2011 in Sayville, New York. He was 52. Dan was a graduate of the University of Manitoba (1982) having received a Bachelor Commerce (Honours). Soon after, he began to naturally excel in a career of sales and marketing. His passion and entrepreneurial spirit provided him with rewarding opportunities to grow his career, taking him from Winnipeg to Montreal, Ottawa, Burlington, Perth, Australia and Evansville, Indiana. Most recently, Dan had been living and working in Long Island, New York as a business consultant. He leaves us much too soon, but having lived an extraordinary life. Dan's remarkable spirit and humour inspired many throughout his life. More recently, his determination to confront adversities showed courage, pride and strength which profoundly affected those around him. The son of immigrant parents whose own families had been torn apart by war, Dan lived a life that strived and often struggled to have his family at its centre. He was a doting son, a loving brother and a proud father. He leaves to celebrate an uncommon life, his children Rachel, Adam and Jill; mother Stefania; brothers Mark (Caroline) and Eugene (Tracy); nieces and nephews Sara, Michael, Emma, Spencer and Paige; uncle and aunt Joe and Mary Rusinowski (cousins Tony and David); uncle and aunt Roman and Helen Pieczonka (cousins Tom, Edward and Gisele); aunt Mary Wiecek (cousins Christine, Irene, Luci, Steve and Paul), godmother Bronislawa Kowalski as well as numerous extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Zygmunt and godfather, Marian Wiecek. A memorial service will take place 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 26 at Christ the King Church, 847 St. Mary's Road in Winnipeg. Donations in Dan's memory may be generously provided to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
