MARY DIAKIW July 4, 1922 - July 15, 2011 Peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2011, Mary passed away at the Golden West Centennial Lodge at the age of 89 years. Remaining to forever cherish Mary's memory is her son Ronald (Janet); grand-children, Kathryn Scott (Mark), Robert (Bonnie), Alycia and Nathan; great-grand-children, Jaxson and Tysen; sister-in-law Chris Chomyszyn; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Peter; son Donald; and brother Alec. Born in Transcona, Mary met and married Peter in 1938 at the age of 16. They moved to Olds, AB where times were hard, then back to Winnipeg to raise their family. Mary's passion was painting her house, inside and out. She was happy when she had a brush in her hand. Mary was a good cook and we will miss her perogies and cabbage rolls. She loved listening to her music, especially Ukrainian polkas. A private Graveside Service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at the Golden West Centennial Lodge, especially everyone on the 5th floor for their kind and compassionate care of our mother and grandma.
