Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHERBERT (BERT) BRIAN Suddenly on Sunday, July 17, 2011, Bert Brian, husband of the late Marion Brian, passed away at his residence at Dakota House, Winnipeg, at the age of 90 years. He was predeceased by his wife Marion in 2009, his sisters Lillian Lawrence, and Gladys Brian. Bert is lovingly remembered by his son David (Rosalind), daughters Nancy (Gary Crooks), and Donna (Vern Klassen); his grandchildren David, Dana (Steph) and Delayne Brian and their mother Sylvia, Ashleigh (Paul Presenger), Kellie Crooks (Tyler Avis), and Courtney, and Bryce Klassen; step-grandchildren, Shawn Aseltine (Laura), and Renie Johnson (Eric), and seven great-grandchildren. Sadly missed by brother-in-law Ken Dryden and family, and sister-in-law Joyce Dryden and family. Bert was born February 8, 1921 to Sidney and Jean Brian in Vancouver, BC. He was employed at C.N.R. and it was there that he met Mom. Mom and Dad were married September 17, 1949 at Norwood United Church, Winnipeg, MB. They purchased their home at 172 Pinedale in 1951, and resided there until 2006 when Dad moved to Dakota House. Dad was very active in the Norwood area as Superintendent of Sunday School for Norwood United Church. He was the chairman of Norwood Scholarship Foundation during the 1960s, he organized Monday night swimming for the Norwood Community Club at Sherbrook Pool. Happy summers were spent at Victoria Beach, where Dad would hunt for the perfect rock with his grandchildren. Dad was often heard humming his favourite song throughout the days and was always a caring, happy soul. Dad never met a stranger as he was a true friend to many. A private family gathering will be taking place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada (www.childrenwish.ca) or a charity of your choice.
