MAUREEN (DEE DEE) MCCOMB (nee MARKHAM) It's with great sadness the family of Maureen Dee Dee McComb announce her passing on July 18, 2011 after a lengthy battle with M.S. Maureen leaves behind her loving husband Ronald, along with their children, Kerry (Don Lowe) of Lethbridge, Jacqueline (Glenn Malic), Melissa McComb (Lyndon Dufrenne) of Thunder Bay, and daughter-in-law Doris McComb. Also to mourn, her amazing mother Evelyn Markham, brother Ray (Linda) of Thunder Bay, and Nancy (Lorne) of Kenora. In addition, her grandchildren, Samantha, Karly, Kaitlin, Michael (Sarah) and Stacie (Adam), and great-grandson Sebastian, along with many more family and friends. Maureen was predeceased by her father Fred Markham, son Michael McComb in 1992, and most recently her son James McComb last month. Maureen was born in Kenora, Ontario on May 2, 1944. Mom spent all her summers as a child and young adult on Rabbit Lake in Kenora. Mom also participated in majorettes and won a Teen Queen competition as a teenager. Mom relocated to Winnipeg with her son Michael and parents where she worked for a brief time at the Health Sciences Centre before meeting and marring her life partner our dad. Mom and Dad both designed and built Carriage House Stables on McCreary Road. These years were mom's most cherished and memorable. Mom spent many hours with her beloved horses. She was also famous for her gourmet dinner parties where many Saturday evenings were spent with their dear friends from McCreary Road. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at both Sturgeon Creek Retirement Residence and Heritage Lodge for the amazing care of our mom and dad. Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to the M.S. Society of Manitoba.
