ROSS DONALDSON Peacefully after a lengthy illness, we regret to announce the passing of Ross Donaldson on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Oakview Place Personal Care Home at the age of 82 years. Remaining to forever cherish Ross' memory are his daughter Cheryl; grandchildren Rebecca (Chris) and Reid. He was predeceased by his wife Mary in 1998; sons Bill in 2001 and Scott in 2005. Ross was born in Montreal, Quebec on January 10, 1929. He joined the Canadian Army in July 1951, retiring in 1975. During his military career Dad had three tours of duty overseas with the United Nations Peacekeepers; Egypt in 1959 and 1963, and Cyprus in 1971, as well as numerous postings across Canada. After retiring from the Army, Dad managed Red Wing Atlas Van Lines and Captain Scott's Fish and Chips for many years. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Oakview Place Personal Care Home, Ward 1 East for their care and concern for dad's well-being and comfort, especially in the last two weeks. In compliance with Dad's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.
