J. M. RONALD PICCINI September 2, 1937- July 18, 2011 It is with great sadness and loving memories that the family of Ron Piccini announces his passing at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, following surgery for lung cancer, on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 73 years of age. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia, two daughters Angela (Dave) Gillis and Pamela (Scott) Hodge, along with his beloved grandchildren Ryan, Jordan, Alyssa, Kaylin and Andrew, sisters Jeanie Lecara, Alice Bohn, Gloria Bungay and Sandra Piccini, along with his special brother-in-law Bruce (Carol) Holland, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Ron was predeceased by his parents Gladys Mabel Piccini (nee McLeod) and Virginio Piccini, along with his brothers James and Richard, sister Lily and sister-in-law Roz Holland. Ron had a long and distinguished military career of more than 37 years. Following retirement Dad enjoyed his role as president of the Manitoba Gunner's Association from 1992 to 2006 and was privileged to receive the Colonel Commandant's Commendation. Dad also spent 14 years working as a Commissionaire and will be remembered for his keen sense of humour by those who had the privilege of knowing him and working with him. A funeral service will be held at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society in recognition of Dad's love of animals or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
