He was born in Elfros, Saskatchewan June 24, 1917. He was predeceased by his wife Irene in 1984. Left to cherish his memory are daughters Joyce Goodmanson (husband Pete) of Victoria, BC and Carol Harder (husband Peter) of Winnipeg, MB, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 brother and 2 sisters. Ray was a City of Winnipeg Fireman for over 30 years. He served in the RCAF overseas during the Second World War and belonged to the St. James Legion for 60 years where he was an avid pool and card player. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was fortunate to live independently in his own home until last year. Although his health deteriorated, he managed to display an active mind, a positive attitude and a smile that lit up a room. He slipped away from us with that smile on his face. Sincere thanks to all the staff at Grace Hospital and Deer Lodge Centre where they provided their care, kindness and support for the last seven months. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Interment to follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
