PATRICIA CURRIE (nee DOUGHIE) April 22, 1937 July 20, 2011 Peacefully and with her family at her side, on the morning of July 20, 2011, Patricia Currie passed away at the age of 74 years. Mom will be lovingly remembered by all of her children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was one of nine children and will be missed by brother Roy (Violet) and is predeceased by sisters Shirley, Lorraine, Dorthie, brothers Roy, Lloyd, Markum, Malcom and Kenny. Mom is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gordon, as well as daughters April Mulla (Gerry), and her children Jason, Marlo and Carley. Brenda Peever (Gord) and their children, Samantha Jack (Daniel), Melanie and Kyle. Darryl Neustaedter and his children Alexa, Cole and Mitch. John (Manuela) and their children Dario and Danica. Grandson Jonathon. Mom was predeceased by daughter's Cindy Neustaedter and Diane Currie. Mom was in a good fight with lung cancer. After several successful rounds of Chemotherapy and Radiation the road looked clear, she was winning. As a side effect of her treatment, Mom battled pneumonia several times over the last year but always came out on top. Then she caught one last one and within the day, was gone. Mom's time had come and she went peacefully. We would like to thank all of the excellent staff at both the Victoria CancerCare and I.C.U. and the Health Sciences Centre Medical I.C.U., where Mom finally passed, for the incredible effort they put in, to make her passing as comfortable and dignified as possible for her. These people are truly blessed with hearts larger than most. We would particularly like to thank Rowena and Anna of the Health Sciences Centre Medical I.C.U. for all of their efforts and compassion. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the charity of your choice.
