JULIANA MARY COURCHENE (nee MORRISSEAU) SAAGIIYAASHE IKWE January 21, 1941 - July 24, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie, respected elder and friend; she passed away peacefully at the age of 70 years old. She leaves behind her husband of 48 years, George Matthew Courchene; children, Lynn, Charles (Joanne), Eric (Sharon); grandchildren Timothy, Candace, Blair, Matthew, Sunshine, Summer, Zaagaate, Enigoosne, Neebin, Noodin, Meengwan; great-grandchildren Braydon, Rheagan, Shaylyn, Rain, Phoenix, Storm, Sasaabwe, Hazel. Her surviving sisters are Helena, Rita and Diane; sister-in-law Elsie. She was predeceased by her father Jean Bapiste Morrisseau, mother Annie Girard, brother Joseph Lloyd Morrisseau, sisters Joanne Peterson and Caroline Wong; in-laws Nancy and Louie Courchene, Esther and J.B.D. Swampy, Josephine and Albert Stevens, Beatrice and Louie Swampy, and Ken McCutcheon. Pallbearers: Timothy Courchene, Blair Letander, Matthew Letander, Dylan Courchene, Errol Olson, Randy Olson, Joseph H. Courchene, Justin Courchene. Honorary Pallbearers: Lillian Spence, Virginie Bunn, Arlene Guimond, Bill and Doreen Meade, Gloria Guimond, Leo Morrisseau, Percy and Rose. We are bringing our mother home, one last time: Wake services at House #605, Sagkeeng First Nation, South Shore. Wake starts July 24, 2011. Funeral services 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the Roman Catholic Church. Interment to follow. We would like to thank Dr. Lambrecht for the care he gave our mother and also thank the nurses at the Pine Falls Hospital for their compassion. Mother you were always a guiding light that shined bright throughout your life, we will always carry and honour your teachings that were the SEVEN ANICINABEK teachings. You always carried yourself with dignity, pride and strength, you are greatly loved and will be forever missed. WE LOVE YOU.
