JANINA LIS May 24, 1916 - July 25, 2011 Surrounded by family, Janina Lis peacefully passed away at her residence, on July 25, 2011 at the age of 95. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be fondly remembered for her warm and outgoing personality. Janina was born in Poland and came to Canada in 1964. She endured many hardships, surviving them all. She had an honest spirit and a strong sense of principles. Janina enjoyed being at home. She was an expert gardener and our family's authority on growing tomatoes. She had a talent for sewing and worked for many years as a seamstress. She was well read. She loved spending time with her family and she adored her grand-children and great-grandchildren. She will be missed for her warm smile. Janina was predeceased by her first husband, Waclaw, in 1945. She re-married in 1946 to Jozef Lis who passed away in 1988. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Alina Jonski (Kazimierz); and sons, Stanislaw Borys (Urszula) and Marian Lis (Mary). Also leaving to mourn her are grandchildren: Ilona Charles (Douglas), Waldemar Borys (Vivi), Andrew Borys (Martha), and Michael and Andrew Lis. She will be fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren: Gavin, Yolanta, Katherina, Sarah, Timothy, Isabella and Christopher. The family would like to express its gratitude to the Palliative Care Team and Home Care workers who made her last days at home comfortable. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 29 at the Holy Ghost Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue in Winnipeg with Rosary beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will take place at the Holy Ghost Cemetery, 4387 Main Street. 586-8044
