LENA OLINIUK (nee ROSOLOWICH) With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Baba Lena on July 26, 2011 at the age of 90. She will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Darlene (Ronald) Komonko, Christine (Tom) Kowalchuk, Rosalie (Jeff) Scaife; grandchildren, Perry (Lynda), Darrell (Marek), Brian (Barry) Komonko, Tom Jr. (Carmen), Marilena, Kristopher (Lenore) Kowalchuk, Tyler (Tina) and Christine Scaife; great-grandchildren, Camryn, Annika and Max Kowalchuk, Riley, Cayla, Spencer and Charlie Scaife; numerous nieces and nephews. Lena was predeceased by her husband, Michael; parents, Stefan and Veronica, and siblings, John, Bill, Mary and Jean. Lena was born in Kreusberg (Fraserwood, MB) April 1, 1921 and moved to Winnipeg when she married Michael in 1941. Her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were her first priority in life, along with gardening, cooking and sewing. She was a 25 year member of the U.C.W.L.C. and enjoyed all the events. Her faith was very important to her where she drew strength throughout her life. We would like to thank Dr. Bhanot and staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their excellent care and Fr. B. Lukie, C.Ss.R. for his spiritual visits. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 12:30 p.m., Saturday, July 30 at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Ave. with Fr. V. Bashutskyy officiating.
