HANS RUDOLF BIERI Peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2011 Hans Rudolf Bieri passed away with his family by his side at the E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Vreni, sons Hans and Martin(Dodie)Bieri and his three special grandsons Juerg, Graidie and Holden Dad was born March 3, 1929 in Belp, Switzerland. He was the second youngest child in a family of ten. Dad developed a very strong work ethic at a young age. He started milking cows at the age of nine every morning before school. Upon completion of his schooling at the age of 16, he travelled to the French speaking part of Switzerland to work on a farm and became fluent in French. He returned home and completed his apprenticeship in cabinet making in 1951. That same year Dad met his one true love, Vreni. They were married on November 4, 1955. Dad built up his own cabinet business from the ground up. In 1977 the family decided in was time for a change and they immigrated to Canada in 1980. Dad once again built up a great business and reputation for himself in Lundar. He had always wanted to farm again and Dad was able to do that here. There was nothing Dad loved more than to put up hay, especially in these last few years. He had enjoyed a couple of fishing trips with his family and loved spending time with his grandsons. Dad loved to travel. Every year the family would go camping in Italy, France and Spain and we later took a trip to Africa, Hawaii and Canada. Mom and Dad took many trips together and had never spent much time apart. Dad loved to swim in the ocean and have a good game of cards. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the Lundar Lutheran Church with Pastor Leslie Poulin officiating. Lunch will be served at the Lundar Legion Hall following the service. A private family interment will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank to Dr. Burnet and the nursing staff at the E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital for all their kindness shown to Dad. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Room 1160, 675 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
