Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I was very young. 10-12yrs old. George and Sally used to invite my grandparents to their cottage in Lake of the Woods. Sally was so kind. She use to tread water while I swam down by the boat house. On more than one occasion she pointed out the large Musky swimming in the boathouse, close to where I was swimming. I remember her telling me stories and showing me her scar from her pacemaker. I still smile when I think about George. I'll never forget my first visit to the cottage. I had to use the outhouse but was nervous to go outside. George volunteered to walk me out with a flashlight. While on our way out he shined it at the top of the hydro pole, said, "oh my, I heard something, what the heck is that!!!???" In the beam of his light there was something moving and making crazy noises at the top of the pole. I was never so scared in my young life. When we woke up in the morning George had a big smile on his face when I came outside and noticed it was a garbage bag he had tied up there!! He also taught me how to be an excellent Chipmunk and Squirrel whisperer. I still practice the skills he taught me today. My memories of those times still bring a smile to my face. My grandparents are Nan & Dennis Colegrave. - Posted by: Jonathan LeBlanc (Friend of Grandparents) on: Aug 14, 2013
