HELENE NEUSTAEDTER (nee SCHROEDER) 1918 - 2011 With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Matriarch of the Schroeder family, Helene Neustaedter on Monday, August 1, 2011 in Winnipeg, Manitoba at 92 years of age. Thirteen months after the Russian Revolution, Helene was born on Estate Neuhof, Brodski, Russia on November 13, 1918. Faced with horrific conditions and hardships for so many, did not deter the Schroeder family. Parents Jakob Heinrich Schroeder and Marie Schroeder imparted spiritual, community and family values embedded in Mennonite History. Leaving for Canada in 1924, the family never forgot it's gratefulness to Canadians. Church was her solitude and the First Mennonite Church was her guiding light! She, as well, looked forward to the creation of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and promoted it's vision of educating all with historical perspectives! Wonderful stories live with the family. Helene's legacy is Love of family, managing always to get the generations to party together. She lived with Hope, was patient with challenges and never forgot prayer. She will be sadly missed but not forgotten, her Love, daughter Irene (Doug), sister-in-law Anne Schroeder and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Helene was predeceased by her beloved husband Abe on June 13, 1965 and brothers Theo, Rudi, Wolja, Vic, Edi and sister Erna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Dr, Winnipeg. Special thanks are extended to the caring staff of MP2 at Misericordia Place who lovlingly cared for my mother. Memorial service will be held at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba on Thursday, August 4, at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Franz Wiebe officiating. Neil Bardal Inc.
