MICHAEL J. MICHALECKI Michael Michalecki passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at the Deer Lodge Centre. Michael was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Thelma (July 11, 2008); his parents Michael and Pearl; his sister Anne and brother-in-law Bill Alton; sister Mary and brother-in-law Rudy Kruch. He leaves to mourn his passing his sister Bernice (Mike) Mandzik; niece Judy (Ron) Worthington; nephews John (Joan) Kruch and Mark (Pina) Mandzik and their families, as well as sister-in-law Eileen (Jack) Dones and Maureen. Michael was born on April 25, 1920. He had a long and happy life. He served his country in the army during the Second World War. After the war he worked for Stephen's Paints (later called Bapco Paint) till his retirement. Mike loved to travel. He and Thelma travelled through most of Canada and the United States, they also enjoyed many camping trips in Minnesota. Mike also found pleasure in listening to music and doing jigsaw puzzles. He went for a walk every day until his health forced him to stop. He was a quiet, gentle man with a good sense of humour. Michael spent a short time at Deer Lodge Centre, Tower 6, where he was treated with great respect and compassion. Thank you to a very caring staff. A special thank you to Judy Worthington for all her loving care of her Uncle Mike. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with interment to follow in Chapel Lawn Cemetery. Should friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
