SARAH JANE BEARDY (nee TRAVERSE) Unexpectedly on July 30, 2011, Sarah, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 68 years. Sarah is survived by her sons Fred (Kelly), Lawrence (Joanne), Lambert, and Robin. She also leaves her daughters Nora, Sandra (Reza), and Dorothy. Also missing their Kookum are her grandchildren, Sarah, Michael, Kevin, Lawrence, Mary, Stephen, Omid, Arya, Dylan, Marcus, Desmond and great-grandchild Melody, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. She also leaves to mourn her passing her mother Irene Traverse and her brothers Roderick Traverse (Susan), John Traverse Jr. and sister Ruth Traverse. Sarah was predeceased by her husband Wilfred Beardy, her father John Traverse, brothers Victor Traverse and Rupert Traverse and sister-in-law Melva Traverse. Sarah was born on March 3, 1943, in Lake St. Martin, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg to raise her family in 1969. Mom was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, quilting and listening to country and gospel music. The family would like to thank the City of Winnipeg Paramedics, Fire Department and Police and the Caretakers at Granite House for their compassion and assistance during this difficult time. Wake will be held at Thursday, August 4, 2011, at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel 1442 Main Street. A Celebration of Sarah's Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday August 5, 2011, also at Cropo. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association at 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or a charity of ones choice.
