BEATRICE (SOBKOWICH) LAWSON 1926 - 2011 Peacefully, on Tuesday, August 2, 2011, with family at her side, at the Grace General Hospital, Beatrice Lawson, aged 85 years, of Winnipeg, MB, beloved wife of the late Edward. She lived her early years in Pope, MB and received her education in Crandall and Hamiota. During the war her family moved to Winnipeg because of her father's ill health. After taking a secretarial course, she worked at Eaton's, married Edward of Darlingford, and stayed home to raise their two children. They resided in Germany and Victoria, BC for several years while Edward was in the Peace Time Army. When they returned to Winnipeg, Beatrice worked at Revenue Canada for 15 years. During that time, her grandsons Scott and Darrell were the love of her life, babysitting them at every opportunity. Upon retiring, Beatrice and Edward moved to Lake of the Woods, spending summers there and winters at their home in Florida where her daughter and family lived. During the most recent years, Beatrice and Edward resided in Winnipeg due to Edward's ill health and then later moved to Gimli which they loved. She was predeceased by her loving husband in 2005, by her father and mother; brother Tommy; sister Joyce; grandson Darrell. She leaves to mourn her daughter Hollis (David) Roland; son Darrell (Maggie); grandsons Scott and Ryan; brother Victor. She thanked God everyday for the gift of having had wonderful parents, good friends, two wonderful children, grandsons, and a good life with her husband of 59 years. However, they both lived with heavy hearts after the death of their oldest grandson, Darrell, whom God took home too soon and they started a memorial scholarship in his name. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011, at the Headingly United Church, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. George Davidson officiating. Interment will take place in the Darlingford Cemetery to reside beside her husband Edward at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, CancerCare, or a charity of their choice, no flowers please. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
