Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDGAR HARVEY SMITH After a courageous battle with cancer, Ed peacefully passed away on August 4, 2011, with his family by his side. Ed is survived by his son Trevor (Karen) Smith; daughter Karen (Doug) Griffin; and grandchildren, Kelby (Michael), Cole (Becky), Marett (Aldyn) and Connor. He is also survived by his brother Gordon (Gail) and sisters Edith Bishop and Edna (Leonard) Olson, sister-in-law Grace and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Joan, brothers Wilfred, Walter, Dave, and sisters Beatrice, and Beulah. Ed was born January 19, 1932, in Riding Mountain, MB. He grew up in Riding Mountain and Kelwood areas. Ed married Joan Clark in July 1957 and moved to Winnipeg. Son Trevor was born in September of 1963, and the family moved to Thunder Bay, ON, in spring of 1964. Daughter Karen was born in March of 1965, and the family remained in Thunder Bay until September of 1973. Various moves within Manitoba followed, settling in Warren, MB, in August of 1977. Ed worked as a professional driver making a career with Greyhound Canada from which he retired in 1990. After retiring, Ed and Joan spent many winters in Arizona. Summers back home allowed Ed to pursue his other passion, farming, working for local farmers. Most recently, Ed resided at Oak Park Lodge in Woodlands, MB. Ed will be remembered for his knack of being able to fix anything. He was truly a Jack of all trades who was always willing to help family and friends. The needs of others always came before his. Ed's jokes, good and bad, will especially be missed by his grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Graham, Sharon and staff at Stonewall and District Health Centre, along with Dr. Kumar at CancerCare. A memorial service will be held at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall, MB, on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Lunch to follow at Warren Memorial Hall in Warren, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stonewall and District Health Centre. We love you and you will be in our hearts forever. MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
