Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryESTHER WILKS June 25, 1919 July 31, 2011 We sadly announce the peaceful passing of our loving Mother, Grandmother and Great- Grandmother, Esther Wilks, at age 92 on July 31, 2011, at Concordia Hospital. Esther was predeceased by her husband Chester, sisters Ellen and Ebba, and her brothers Elmer, Harry, Albert and George Svendsen. She is survived by her children Bob and his wife Diane, Helen and her husband Bob Fraser and Art and his wife Gay. She leaves behind six grandsons Jamie and Angie Fraser, Dan and Annelies Fraser, Dave and Susan Fraser, Ryan Wilks (Estera), Chris Wilks (Ashley), and Nick Wilks (Samantha). Also cherishing her memory are six great-grandchildren Jessalyn, Tucker, Viktor, Claire, Cole and Sara, who affectionately called her Super Grandma. She is also survived by her brother Robert Svendsen and his wife Martha, a sister-in-law Mary and many nieces and nephews. Esther was born in Aalborg, Denmark and immigrated to Canada at the age of five with her parents, brothers and sisters. She married her husband Chester on November 2, 1940, and they were happily married for almost 43 years. Mom and Dad loved attending the senior dances at Lions Place. After Dad's passing in 1983, she continued to enjoy going to the dances and was especially proud to be the square dance caller. Esther and her sister Ebba were avid bingo fans and played regularly until Esther broke her hip in 2006. Mom often surprised her family with home-baked cookies and a real favourite of everyone butter tarts. She was an excellent knitter and made many baby outfits, sweaters and mitts for her grandchildren. Probably mom's favourite thing to do was spend time with her family. The family appreciates the wonderful care and kindness extended to our Mother during her stay at Concordia Hospital and also Bethania Personal Care Home, which has been Mom's home for the past three years. A private family service is planned. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Bethania Personal Care Home or a charity which is close to your own heart.
