TOM KAPILIK June 15, 1947 August 3, 2011 It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts we announce the loss of our husband, father, son, grandfather, uncle and brother, Tom, on August 3, 2011 at Seven Oaks Hospital. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by Susan, his wife of 43 years; sons Brett (Lori), Corey (Melanie), Aaron (Pinky) and Adam; his mom Joyce; grandchildren Eric, Naomi, Chloe, Chelsea and Colton; brothers and sisters Doug (Pat), Kathy (Doug), Kim (Mike), Kelly (Lorraine), Sue; sister-in-law Judi; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Robert, in-laws Elsie and Chuck Peters, and brother-in-law Jeff Reid. Tom was born in Winnipeg and raised on Linden Ave. in East Kildonan to a large and loving family. He attended Miles Macdonell Collegiate and then the University of Manitoba, where he graduated with a Diploma in Agriculture. After wrestling with cows at the stockyards, he took a position with Agriculture Canada as a federal food inspector for over 35 years. Since 1975, Lester Beach was his summer home where he loved golfing, spending time with his friends and family and barbequing great dinners. His morning routine always included getting up with the sun and teeing off with his regular foursome at Victoria Beach Golf Course before the course even opened. He was a great dad to his four boys and supported all their endless activities, particularly their years of playing football with the River East Kodiaks for 11 consecutive years. Tom's faith in Jesus Christ was central to his life. He cherished the fellowship and loving support of his Gateway Church family, and his pastors Ron MacLean, John Micklefield and Ken Peters. Special thanks to the staff at Seven Oaks Dialysis Unit for their love and concern over the years, and the amazing staff at Emergency this week for their care of Tom and the family. A celebration of Tom's life will be held on Tuesday August 9, 2011 at Gateway Church, 851 Panet Road at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom's memory may be made to The Rainbow Society (www.therainbowsociety.com). "God is good - life is good." - Tom Kapilik Arrangements entrusted to Bardal Funeral Home, 774-7474.
