Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEC FRANK BLOODWORTH Alec Frank Bloodworth, on July 18, 2011, passed away peacefully at the age of 93, of natural causes. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ruth, by his sons, Glenn (Margaret), Keith (Stephanie), by his daughter Helen (Richard), by his grandchildren, Catherine, Ruhi, Badi (Candice), Lars, Dana, Eric (Nataline), Michelle and Kara, by his great-grandchild Ivan. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Catherine, by his brothers, Bill, Charlie, Bob and Arthur, by his sister, Marjorie, by his son Frank, and by his daughter Mary. Alec was born February 15, 1918, and grew up on a farm in the RM of Rockwood, and later, the family moved to Winnipeg. At 15, Alec joined the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders' cadet corps, and at 18 joined the regiment. Alec met his wife Ruth at a dog show at the age of 19. They were married on December 26, 1939, and last year they celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. He enlisted for active duty on September 2, 1939 with the Cameron's. He served with them overseas during World War II and It was overseas that he found his love for woodworking. Studying under a master carver, he spent much of his free time honing his craft. After the war he returned home to his wife and, then, five year old son Frank. He was discharged in September of 1945. Alec's passion for woodworking continued throughout his life. He taught a high school shop class, and joined the Adanac Carvers Association. He could always be found in his workshop either refinishing antique furniture or creating amazingly lifelike wildlife carvings. Alec was a man of great integrity. He had a wonderful sense of humour and his laughter would often fill the room. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Poseidon Care Center for their kind care of Alec. A service will be held to celebrate Alec's life on Sunday, August 14, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at Minto Armouries, 969 St Mathews Ave. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation may be made in his memory to Wounded Warriors through CanadaHelps.org
