ELIZABETH (BETTY) BAIN GIBB (nee WATERS) In her 95th year, Mum passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of August 1, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband Bill (1992), son Robert (1995) and son-in-law Ed Martinson (2010). Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Sharen Martinson and Linda Fortier; grand-children, Kerri Lynne and Bill; daughter-in-law Roberta; as well as her brother George Waters and several nephews and nieces. Mum was born November 25, 1916 to John and Margaret Ann Waters. She grew up in the West End of Winnipeg. After completing Business School, she was a secretary at Eaton's. She met Dad when he returned her tennis shoes she had left at the tennis courts and they married in 1941. Over their 51 years of marriage, they enjoyed golf, singing, listening to music, dancing, playing cards and travelling to Hawaii, Scotland, England, San Diego and many other destinations with family and their wide circle of friends. Mum's career was being a caring and dedicated wife to Dad, mother to Sharen, Linda and Rob and being a friend to many people over the years. She was a wonderful cook and hosted many family dinners. She loved and was loved. She lived her last five and a half years at Poseidon Care Centre. We would like to thank the wonderful nursing and care worker staff on the first floor, as well as all the recreation, physiotherapy, kitchen and support staff for taking such good care of Mum during her stay there. Their compassion and warmth were greatly appreciated. Also thanks to Dr. M. L. Cummings, Dr. M. Ekins, Dr. I. Maxwell and Dr. M. Jain for their care over the years. Mum, we will miss you but we are grateful that your suffering has ended and we will remember the good times, particularly Christmas of 2010 when you were the life of the party. Rest well. A memorial reception will be held at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, on Tuesday, August 9 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
