She had suffered a massive brain bleed stroke on July 24, 2011 and patiently waited 11 days, as loved ones came and said their goodbyes, when Jesus came to take her to heaven. Helen was born on March 14, 1926 and raised on a farm in Brokenhead, MB. She moved to Winnipeg and later married and devoted her life to her family. She was blessed with a faith that was her constant that defined who she was and what she did. She lived her life helping others and seeking the best in people. She wrote and shared many poems that were most often inspirational and loving. A celebration of Helen's life will be held on Tuesday, August 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Grey Street United Church, NE-Grey and Sandhurst. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grey Street United Church, 651 Sandhurst Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1B1. Mom recited this poem by heart, with a twinkle in her eye and a smile from her heart: My Passport to Heaven I've got my passport to Heaven, My flight is all set to go. It awaits me with patience, And there are many things I must do. First, I'll say good-bye to all my loved one's, I'll say good-bye to all of my friends. I'm going to see my Father in Heaven, He knows how much I love Him. He knows I have been rejected, He felt the pain in my heart. He knows of all my trials and tribulations that faced me, He knows of my every weakness. He knows me by my first name. So you see, I'm going to Heaven. On a flight that's awaiting me. This is to let her family know how much Helen loved them. I was a neighbor & friend of hers for many years. She shared many stories of her girls and grandchildren with me. We walked our dogs & talked for hours. She especially enjoyed her trips to see Christine & loved that parrot she had.The love of her life we all know was her little friend, Cupid. She very much enjoyed all the time spent with Heather when she moved to her new home. We will all miss her terribly but must remember, she is in a better place. - Posted by: Barbara McTaggart (Friend) on: Aug 06, 2011
