MARIA LURDES VERDINHO September 27, 1910 - August 4, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Maria Lurdes Verdinho on August 4, 2011, at Oakview Place, at the age of 100 years. Lurdes will be lovingly remembered by her family. She leaves to mourn daughter Olivia, sons Joao (Karen) and Luis (Esmeralda) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lurdes was predeceased by her loving husband Joao, her son Carlos (Armenia) and son-in-law Alberto Carvalho. Lurdes was born on September 27, 1910 in Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel Azores, Portugal. She immigrated to Canada with her husband Joao in 1969. Lurdes was a very talented seamstress and tailor always helping to provide for her family. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin Street N., Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Andre Lico, presiding. Interment will be at Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue.
