JOHN PETER HECTOR Peacefully with his family by his side, after a few months of failing health at the Riverview Health Centre, John Peter Hector, dearly beloved husband of Laraine and father of daughters Claire and Colette, entered into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, August 4, 2011. John was born in Winnipeg June 23, 1917 and spent his life in Winnipeg. He was employed by the Winnipeg Fire Department, retiring in 1982 as a District Chief. As heavy as our hearts are feeling, we are thankful Bumpa's (as he was lovingly called) struggle is over. We know he is now with his son Colin and the Lord. John was predeceased by his son Colin Norman Hector, June 16, 1985. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Laraine of 65 years, daughters Claire (Karl) and Colette (Garth), five grandchildren Stephen, (Sondra), Justin (Kim), Jody (Tyler), Johnna (Bryce) and Andreas, 11 great-grandchildren Daniel, Jordan, Matthew, Rayanne, Madison, Kennedy, Burke, Nolan, Reese, Dante and Camdyn. A celebration of John's life will be held Thursday, August 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler at Henderson Hwy. Chaplain Mark Young officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory can be made to the Firefighters Burn Fund Inc., 303 - 83 Garry Street, Winnipeg, MB, Canada R3C 4J9.
