WILLIAM TRISKA With our hearts still broken from losing Mom, we can't believe we now are called to announce the death of our beloved Dad, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. As we sit and listen to some of their favorite music, we are convinced that they are once again happy together and dancing to Johnny and his Musical Mates . Dad went to join Mom on August 4, at 90 years of age while at the Arborg Hospital. William is survived by his daughter Gloria (Keith), son Robert (Morene), daughter Bonnie (Rod), grandchildren Todd (Deborah), Kristi (Chris), Wendy (Dennis), Melanie (Gary), Blair (Richelle), Neil (Karla), Robin and Erin and 12 wonderful great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by wife Anne just three months ago, parents George and Anna, daughter June, infant great-grandson David, sisters Mary and Dora and five infant siblings. Dad was born in Homer, Manitoba, and at an early age moved to Riverton where the family resided on Lundi Avenue. After a short stint in the army, Dad returned to Riverton where he met and married his dear Anne. They resided there on the Triska homestead until 2009 when they moved into Arborg's Assisted Living Facility. In May 2011, Dad was admitted to hospital in Arborg where he lived until he passed away. Dad established and successfully ran Evergreen Construction Company for many years, before passing it into the hands of son Robert who subsequently passed it on to his son Neil. Prior to establishing the road construction company, Dad tried his hand at fishing and farming, and also worked as a section man for the railway. His extremely strong work ethic was evident throughout. Dad greatly enjoyed life. He spent many happy hours curling, playing the accordion, dancing and traveling with Mom as often as possible, planning holidays with relatives, and fishing and then producing the best smoked goldeyes around. After he retired, he set up a woodworking shop and then proceeded to provide all of his family with beautiful pieces which we will treasure always, just as we do Mom's beautiful doilies and sweaters. Everything that came out of that shop was perfect, as Dad wouldn't have it any other way. He, like Mom, loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He taught us the value of honesty, generosity and intense loyalty to family, through his example. Because of him and Mom, we are all better people and we will miss them both terribly. Funeral service to be held at Arborg St. Philips Roman Catholic Church on Friday, August 12 at 1:00 p.m. to be followed by interment at St. John's Catholic Church in Ledwyn and lunch at Riverton Friendship Circle at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends and family who so desire, may make a donation to the charity of their choice. Our family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to the doctors and all staff at the Arborg Hospital as well the Assisted Living Facility. We sincerely appreciate the excellent care, compassion and commitment you all showed Dad in his final months. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Arborg in care of arrangements.
