CHRISTINE ROBINSON 1928 - 2011 Peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2011 Christine Robinson (nee Daunheimer) passed away at Calvary Place Personal Care Home. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her sister Evelyn Huffman of Vancouver, nephew Ray Pekrul of Regina (Lynda Kushnir Pekrul) and niece Sharon Pekrul of Winnipeg (Ken Moore), great-niece Raena Peasley of Regina (Shawn Peasley) and great-nephew Christopher Pekrul of Saskatoon (Bretty McGinn). Christine was predeceased by her husband James Stanley Robinson of Toronto (1982); sister Elsie Pekrul of Winnipeg (2000), and brothers-in-law George Pekrul (1982) and Harvey Huffman (2006). Christine was born November 27, 1928 in Neudorf, Saskatchewan to Mary and Ludwig Daunheimer. She was the middle child of three daughters and lived on the family farm until moving to Winnipeg in 1945. As an adult living in Winnipeg she worked for years in retail at Genser's Furniture and then with Mid-West Gas Company. In the mid-1960s, after a brief holiday, Christine returned to Toronto where she worked, married and lived until January 2009. In Toronto Christine worked most of her career for Zurich Insurance. Our sister and aunt was very generous of her time and self to family and friends, always willing to do a tea cup reading or floral arrangement. She volunteered for many years at the Victoria Park Community Police Station and was a registered member of Toronto Actors Union as an extra for a number of movies. Christine was a gregarious individual ensuring jokes and laughter. The family is grateful for the exceptional care she received in Winnipeg at Calvary Place Personal Care Home and previously at Wexford Care Home in Toronto. Christine found a new home back in Winnipeg with the Calvary staff and families. Appreciation is also extended to doctors and nurses at Grace Hospital. Funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m., Friday, August 12, 2011 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
