STEVE KOLOCHUK With heavy hearts the family announces the peaceful passing of Steve Kolochuk on Sunday, August 7, 2011, the day before his 82nd birthday. Left to cherish is memory are his wife of 57 years, Betty, son David (Cathi), daughter-in-law Rae; his sisters, Beatrice Pick, Stella (Lawrence) Pockett, brother Pete (Anne) Kolochuk, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Nellie, son Eugene, sisters Helen (Fred) Smadyllo, Mary (Mike) Werbiski, Anne (Cyril) Garton and brother-in-law Jake Pick. Steve was born on the family farm in Moose Bay, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg in 1951, he spent 38 years with Winnipeg Hydro before his retirement. A 50 year member of St. Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Parish, assisting in different areas of the church as well as many years of that time on the Bingo Committee and was proud to be the resident on his street that had lived there the longest. A kind, generous and devoted husband and father, Steve was always willing to give a helping hand. A hardworking man who loved working in his garden, puttering in the garage, checking his lottery numbers and a good party. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at the Grace Hospital for their compassionate care. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 12 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 202 Harcourt St., Winnipeg.
